About the project

Community run in Eaton Park

Up The Tempo, a Community Interest Company, provide Free of Charge, Community Couch to 5k running programmes.

We have been hosting these in Eaton Park since 2016 having had well over 500 Participants take part so far.

We welcome all ages; all abilities and any gender. Our aim is to turn non-runners into runners; and then to support them as they continue running. We wish to provide an opportunity for those wishing take steps to improve their wellbeing; physical health and mental health through engaging in a community running group. The runs will are followed by refreshments at Eaton Park Café.

With Eaton Park being home to a fantastic parkrun, and social prescribing suggesting Parkrun, we look to bridge the gap and allow people to develop and grow as people and runners to work towards achieving a 5km Parkrun.

Over the years we have been lucky enough to have revived grants and support from Arnold Clark, One Stop Carriers for causes, Magic Little Grants, Aviva Community Fund, The National Lottery Community Fund. Sport England, Eaton Park Community Association and Shotesham Village Association.

Having recently been invited to speak at a Suicide Prevention Conference for the Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation trust we intend to further our work with The Wellbeing Service & Social Prescribing through Local GP’s which we are currently leasing with as we continue to evolve

Our Free of charge community running groups has seen groups of people who have come together through our couch to 5k programme form friendships that have improved there standard of life. Culminating in attending running events as a group and spending time together away or animal sitting for one and another. With many people experiencing social isolation and growing anxiety’s & concerns around world and local issues.

Our runs provide opportunities for people to re engage with society in a controlled environment; improve the physical health and wellbeing and develop a sense of community.

By supporting; encouraging and motivating people to achieve something new; we can help open the door to a better future for all.
